Mental and Emotional Well Being
When accidents happens, when a mother losses her child, when a husband found out that his wife was cheating on him, when someone was laid off from work and a member of the family is in the hospital, when you live alone and can’t find a suitable partner, all of these factors and a lot more can affect the emotional and mental behavior of a person.
Good mental health isn’t just the absence of mental health problems. Being mentally or emotionally healthy is much more than being free of depression, anxiety, or other psychological issues. You can be mentally and emotionally healthy if you have a sense of contentment in your life, you find ways to have fun and laugh, you can cope with stress and pressure without breaking down, you have the ability to build and maintain a fulfilling relationship, and your life has a sense of meaning and purpose.
Unfortunately, some people who experience adversities in their lives find it hard to bounce back and move on. It is really quite hard to balance the emotion when it is suppressed with anger or anxiety. Having trusted people you can turn to for encouragement and support will boost your resilience in tough times. Let yourself experience strong emotions, and also realize when you may need to avoid experiencing them at times in order to continue functioning. In order to maintain and strengthen your mental and emotional health, it’s important to pay attention to your own needs and feelings. Get a pet, when someone or something relies on you for your care and love, it will you more sense of fulfillment and good companionship.
